Well, I'm a professional by nature of what I do (profession of accounting), and I've cleaned my grill so.....yes

Otherwise - no.

You mean, lightning the current fire to burn off all the leftovers from the last fire? And then wiping the can rings left from the previous production off any flat surfaces???
No apparently there are people who come to your house, disassemble most of the grill and get it clean to a new / almost new status. Not just the grates, but the burners, inside "tub" of the grill, inside lid and other parts. (Then re-assemble.)

Grill won’t get as hot if you don’t clean its guts periodically.

Periodically (like when it won't turn on) I take everything out of the tub, replace the burners/diffusers that need it. Trouble is, it's often VERY difficult to find replacement burners. Scrape the path the gas is supposed to run.

The tub/lid stay the same, got that good seasoning to them.

I've seen those vans advertising the cleaning service. Never even wanted to know how much it would run. Figured they'd be like a stealership and once your grill was apart, they'd be selling you all new internals for more than the price of a new grill.

I do plan to have someone come out and clean mine like this soon. I can see the value in it, if it's not absurdly expensive.

I'm still by the beach and north of the "great basin" so I never had smog.

I decided to try it. Called the guy with the most / best reviews on Yelp. $250. 2 guys worked for about 2 hours and the grill is definitely cleaner than when I do it myself. But I don’t think it’s $250 cleaner.

I was always told never to clean your grill like brand new again? kinda like breaking in something brand new. but what do I know I would have used that $250 on steaks and what not

I looked at it in more detail today. The inside is cleaner than I would have gotten it but not “brand new clean.” Last night, I hadn’t really noticed the nice job they did on the exterior, particularly the back of the grill. Also not brand new but much, much cleaner. Definitely not something I’d do every year but I might consider it again in a few years if it looks like it needs it.

I have also read and I'm sure you all have heard, that continuing to eat the charred smoke infused meats from a dirty grill poses many health risks. I can see the carcinogen effect being a problem.
Definitely eating charred meats or skin isn't a good thing.

Its still pretty difficult to beat either Montreal Steak or Lawrys, as long as used with restraint. My family isn't very discerning and as long as I season the cook with Jack everything turns out golden
