Trickle Charging
My vehicle often sits for long periods unused. What's the best procedure for trickle charging? If the trunk is left open, the trunk lights use some of the charge. If the trunk is closed, is there risk of battery gases igniting?
Thanks. |

E39 BMWs have locations under the hood that can be used specifically for jump starts and trickle charges. The Positive terminal is at the rear of the engine on the left side of valve/cam cover. It has a plastic cover marked w a "+". Simply lift if up and attach positive clip from charger. Negative clip can be attached to the nut on top of the right side shock tower. (It's all in your manual).
I do this every winter using a smart charger. |
