Hi Llarry , thanks for asking! Last week I transferred from a walker to a cane. Slow going and a bit scary, but they have me in a harness for using the cane so I don't fall. I also saw my surgeon on Tuesday. He was happy with my progress, and told me to stay positive. His next words were "you won't be "normal" again"... WTH? Stay positive??? Of course I will, but that was a bit of a kick to the sack. It is just over 3 months since being admitted to the hospital, and I am happy (for the most part) with my progress. A mere 6 weeks ago I couldn't even stand up. Now I do 200 sit to stand exercises every day. Staying the course with 4x/week therapy for the forseeable future, and I have nothing better to do than to get better! Thanks again for asking!

Went to dinner last night and left the wheelchair at home for the first time. I only used the walker, and sat at the bar in a high barstool.
And I didn't fall down!

A gorilla walks into a bar and says, "A scotch on the rocks, please."
The gorilla hands the bartender a $10 bill.
The bartender thinks to himself, "This gorilla doesn't know the prices of drinks," and gives him 15 cents change.
The bartender says, "You know, we don't get too many gorillas in here."
The gorilla replies, "Well, at $9.85 a drink, I ain't coming back, either."

Three vampires walk into a bar.
The first one says, "I'll have a pint of blood."
The second one says, "I'll have one, too."
The third one says, "I'll have a pint of plasma."
The bartender says, "So, that'll be two Bloods and a Blood Lite?"

A priest, a minister, and a rabbit walk into a bar.
The bartender asks the rabbit, "What'll you have?"
The rabbit says, "I don't know, I'm just here because of the autocorrect."

Hello fine people of BPOT. Today was a good day. I took the M3 around the neighborhood. First time behind the wheel since January, and it went very well! Tomorrow I am going for a haircut by myself!

Thanks brother. It was kinda funny.... I sat in the garage for about 5 minutes alternating between gas and brake, making sure I had it down before I plowed into a wall when I went out. Then, when I pulled out of the garage and headed down the street, who do I see but MRS H coming home to take me to therapy........ She was like what the heck???? I told her I was fine and went about my drive. All good! I have some modifications I make, but, I really feel good about it!

Hate to quote myself, but to add on to this, today in therapy I set all kinds of new personal bests. Treadmill, walking, etc. I am really super stoked on the day!

Esteban Good morning, and thanks for asking in the song title thread. I figure I'll respond here so as not to .

I haven't used my walker since last Tuesday, just a cane. Balance keeps improving. Driving is AWESOME. Last Friday was assessment day in therapy again. Previous distance in the 6 minute walking test was 600' using my walker. This time was 800' using just the cane. It was kind of funny, I walked in to therapy on Friday using just my cane for the first time. I was about a half hour early so I walked through the gym to the restroom in the back. All the therapists were totally blown away that I left the walker at home as I strolled through like it was no biggie. As for my back, I still have no pain like I used to, and that is a really great thing. Legs are waking up little by little. Keeping on keeping on! Thanks again for asking!

Side note, today is my grandma's 100th birthday! Happy birthday Grandma!

Glad to hear, Hubba. Sounds like you're making good progress. In no time you'll be doing cartwheels. Haha, kidding. We'll settle for walking on your own with no cane or nothing, which we know will be coming soon.

PS - Happy birthday to your grandma. 100 years, wow, that’s really something! Hope you live that long as well, brother.

Hey everybody. Just a quick update. I saw my surgeon today, and he was tickled with my progress. He was shocked to see me with just a cane. His reaction was almost giddy! The best news, he says that I am in no danger of breaking any of his work when I feel my balance has returned well enough to golf! Shooting for October! Woot Woot!!
