BMW USA to add 1000 new jobs at SC Plant!

Looks like more and more NA bound cars will be made in the good 'ol USA!

European Delivery's future?

I think the question is whether or not there is fundamentally any change in which models are built in SC and if any of them will be exported to other countries as a result of the expansion.

From the cnbc article its unclear if there is any change in the models currently being produced in SC

We know they are adding the X7 in 2019.

Export volume depends on market demand, but I imagine much of the expansion will be to accommodate the booming SUV market here in the west.

The production capacity is not increased by this, but more US market models (non-X vehicles) could be swapped in if that need arises.

This is for manufacturing infrastructure (not full assembly line volume) of future X Series Models, with significant emphasis on electrified variants.

450,000 capacity includes X7 which goes online next year. Spartanburg also produces PKD and CKD kits for other assembly locations.

I think they also mentioned that SC is assembly only from major parts/components (assuming made in germany mostly) vs engine manufacture etc

Spartanburg is manufacturing as well. Parts content is now 35% US/Canada - 30% Germany - 35% other on avg.
