E39 handling issue... uber pucker

Hi all,
This is my 1st post on this board and I hope I'm in the right place.

I bought a 2002 540i ( M pkg. w/ some Dinan goodies) and discovered that the inner rear tires had worn through to cord. The car was as stable as expected though with minimal tread left was easy to break loose the rear but it felt planted going into corners. I installed 2 new rears as soon as I could of the same tire Michelin Pilot Sport Plus A/S (255/40 17) and now the car is VERY scary while cornering! The tire wear says it needs an alignment which will be happening first thing next week but I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered this. Hard to describe but feels as if the car is about to swap ends if I were to turn in by any amount.

Thanks for any help. Apologies if you see this same post on other boards as I am reaching out where ever I can.
