Coldest place I've ever been was Korea, up near the DMZ. Winter temps would get near -40F. (Or Celsius where both temps are the same.) If you inhaled through your nose without some protection, your nostrils would freeze on the inside. Our CO would make us run PT if it was above zero. We got to wear knit caps, but they'd freeze to your hair once your started sweating. After PT you'd have to take a shower in a latrine/shower building, which was barely heated, then slide your way back your barracks building to get dressed.
Then the summer would come around and it would be well over 100F for weeks. Super high humidity, too. Unbelievable extremes. Ah, the good old days.
It's been single digits above and below zero here for a few days. Not horrible, but cold enough. As long as the wind isn't blowing much, it's tolerable.
