Also, this illustrates a weak spot of SH-AWD - torque vectoring doesn't work under braking (unlike BMW DPC torque vectoring available in X6, X5m's and X5 F15's which still works under braking). Acura driver provably would have made the turn if he accelerated instead off braked.

It's got nothing to do with SH-AWD or torque vectoring. It's called object fixation.
When the Acura driver approached the turn at speed, and got loose and saw the on-coming car, the "fight and flight" response kicks in and he got fixated on the BMW and stare at it. End result, as we teach in Tire Rack Street Survival, auto crosses, and HPDEs, is you hit whatever you're staring at. The subconscious takes over and the Acura driver inadvertently steers straight into the BMW. In an XWhatever the outcome will be the same.
