I love BMWs, but stay away from this car if your goal is to learn to drive a manual transmission. Learn on a smaller econobox like the Ford or Toyota/Honda/Mazda/etc. BMWs take money and effort to keep running, and chances are better than even that the person selling that car (based on my review of their ad) is not a car enthusiast and by inference has not maintained it. If you are, on the other hand, leaning towards trying out a BMW for something different, consider something that is approximately 10 years old and has been well maintained. This strikes me as being a good value vs running quality trade-off. I just finished looking up the prices for used 5-series as I'm considering selling mine to buy a new 5 series, and a reasonable 528i or 530i (2000 - 2003) seems to be between $6000 and $8000.
