P1542 & CAN transmission - no power runs improperly

Hope this helps 2000 528iT (manf-12/99) @ 200,000 miles

I am holding the pedal steady & 1/2 way, engine should reach a stable 4-5000 RPM

My (former) mechanic said i needed a new transmission ($2000+ !) & Carmax said they would give me $300.00 on trade, an insult!

so I took matters into my own hands...

- idled fine
- but ran rough as soon as you touch the pedal
- would not hold RPM or go above 2000 RPM

so ->

-unplug mass air flow (MAF) sensor, RUN , but sometimes ran rough & sometimes smoothed out and ran great!
-shut off, plug in MAF
- EML & DCS (circular arrow light with triangle "! " in center) lights disappeared IDLE SMOOTHER THAN EVER HAS , revs out ,Transmision DOESN'T SLIP!!! Held it in first? Stepped on it & shifted to 2nd ok.
- 5 minutes later of revving DSC & then EML came back

From my Carista WIFI / iPhone code reader:

OBD2 - confirmed:

P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Range/Performance ( yes I unplugged it)

P1542 (Google, forums: Pedal / throttle position sensor -

P1189

EML CAN transmission torque (DSC?) safe mode

collectively gained advice:

#1 vacuum leak in intake
#2 throttle body sticking
#3 servo or sensor error - need new throttle body

Explored the BMW intake yesterday

Found a couple vacuum leaks & bad hoses,

1. vacuum hose (1/8") broke to oil seperator
2. plastic box attached to upper intake bellows not seated
3. bad hose (3/8) upper intake bellows

cleaned everything & dielectric grease some seals on intake. Tighten everything bit more when I put it back together & ran worse. But ... Oops forget to plug in throttle body. HaHA !

these codes:
P0120 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A" Circuit
P1765 - CAN Throttle Valve

Just remembered my mistake while watching tv, so ran out 10pm in dark to plug it in - then All error code gone & it runs fine. Fixed it with time, learning understanding from forums & youtube, patience & stuff lying around from my fuel filter & regulator repair.
