Brutal noise.

One thing though - the ferraris sounded different to everything else. They had a noise on deceleration like thunder.

Anyone know why?
I've heard many F1 races and the Ferrari sound is not different from others, they are all in themselves minimally different, remember other cars also have the Ferrari engine in them (Toro Rosso). The deceleration noise you heard is on every car as well, you can only hear this on the technical parts of a circuit or corners, not on the straights. This is just what an awesome engine without insulation, mufflers etc sounds like. In fact, if you took everything out of your cars exhaust system you'd get a similar sound (highly illegal).

Remember these cars' brakes do ALL of the braking, they compress gears only to get out of the corners quicker not to slow down. Their brakes are that good!

I would recommend an episode in top gear in which one of the guys drives a Renault F1, it is so much harder than anyone thinks!

Sickest sport out there without a doubt.
